The Greening of Havre de Grace!
Please join the City of Havre de Grace Department of Public Works and the Havre de Grace Tree Commission on Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. for their Arbor Day celebration to be held in Tydings Park. We will be planting a native Sourwood Tree in commemoration of Pastor Edward Heydt who served the congregation at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church for many years. This celebration will serve as the 14th year of Havre de Grace being recognized as a Tree City USA through the Arbor Day Foundation.
In addition, students from the Havre de Grace Elementary School along with staff from the Department of Public Works will be planting 100 native species trees on City property as part of our stormwater treatment and urban forestry programs. This will take place at the Horseshoe Bend Park near Havre de Grace Elementary School and can be accessed from Bloomsbury Avenue near Seneca Avenue, not far from the Food Forest recently started by the Havre de Grace Green Team. City staff would like to thank all of the organizations and concerned citizens in our communities for their continued support and actions which are moving Havre de Grace forward with “greening up” the City.
